The Macomb County Trailways Master Plan received the 2005 Outstanding Planning
Project for a Plan Award from the Michigan Association of Planning at their annual
conference in September. The Macomb County Planning and Economic Development Department
collaborated with local entities, local and regional stakeholders and other County Departments
to develop the County-wide Plan. The Plan will ultimately yield a cohesive trail system,
developed through a coordinated effort that connects people to each other and to schools,
parks, rivers, public buildings, and historic and cultural resources in the region. Through
an interactive planning process, Wade Trim assisted to produce the Plan that brought individual
community plans together into a single, cogent Trails Master Plan.
Wade Trim is continuing to
work with Macomb County to design and construct the second phase of the Macomb Orchard Trail,
a major component of the county-wide trail system. The project involves 17 miles of bike path,
including nine bridges and will span from Washington Township to the City of Richmond.
