For the fourth consecutive year, Wade Trim staff joined three million volunteers
on Make A Difference Day, October 28, 2006. Co-sponsored by USA WEEKEND Magazine
and the Points of Light Foundation, the annual event is the world’s largest
community service undertaking. Staff from our Michigan, Ohio and Florida offices
participated in various projects to clean up parks and waterfronts, build and paint,
and box clothing.
In Michigan, Detroit office volunteers partnered with Jefferson East Business Association to
clean up three school grounds in the East Jefferson Neighborhood in Detroit.
Volunteers from our Flint office planted tulip bulbs outside the
Farmers’ Market and removed debris along the Flint River. Grand Rapids volunteers
removed invasive vegetation along a lake in Norton Shores. Other clean-up
efforts included clearing brush from a bike path in the Village of Milford
and cleaning up the yards of senior citizens in the City of Plymouth. Florida office
volunteers worked with City of Palm Bay employees to clear Brazilian
pepper trees from the brush in Castaway Park.
Volunteers from our other offices helped communities with construction and
painting projects. Volunteers
from our Bay City office built sections of wheelchair ramps for the Disability Services
Resource Center in Bay City. Traverse City office volunteers painted and cleaned up
a recreation center in the City of Frankfort. Tampa office volunteers
painted nine dorm rooms for homeless residents for the Homeless Emergency Project.
Volunteers from our Cleveland office painted the dining room and hallway ceilings in the
Brendon Manor group home in Garfield Heights.
Volunteers from our Livonia office boxed new clothes for distribution to those in need
for the Gleaner’s Community Food Bank in Detroit.
