The GIS street centerline layer

CLEMIS is a state-of-the-art computer technology used by criminal justice and public safety agencies

Wade Trim recently completed a GIS street centerline layer for Van Buren Township
to use in conjunction with their E-911 response system. The centerline street layer
was a prerequisite for the Township to join the Courts and Law Enforcement
Management Information System (CLEMIS), a technology that allows criminal justice
and public safety agencies to share information across jurisdictions. The Township
uses CLEMIS and its GIS centerline layer to record the locations of E-911 calls,
crimes, fires and other emergency situations. Mapping these locations allows public
safety personnel to quickly and efficiently deploy their resources, ultimately
saving time, money and lives.
Wayne County’s Department of Technology, the agency responsible for
overseeing street centerline updates and quality control, often requires
up to six months to complete this task for communities joining CLEMIS.
Wade Trim helped the Township complete the project in three weeks.
