Pedestrian Bridge Extends Polly Ann Trail

Polly Ann Trail users in Oakland County are enjoying the newest addition to their 14-mile trail, a pedestrian bridge in the Village of Oxford that provides a safe crossing over M-24. Owned by the Polly Ann Trail Management Council, the bridge is part of a Michigan Department of Natural Resources rails-to-trails program serving multiple communities in Oakland County.

Wade Trim developed the conceptual design for the 100-foot, prefabricated steel bridge and its approaches. The bridge acts as a gateway to the Village of Oxford, blending with its historic Victorian downtown. Stone facade treatments enhance the aesthetics of the mechanically-stabilized earth retaining walls along the bridge approaches that were necessary due to narrow right-of-way constraints.

A dedication ceremony to recognize the $1.75 million trail construction including installation of the bridge was recently held. Wade Trim was among several companies that contributed services and funds to bring the project to life.
