The word is green for the Manatee County Palmetto Library that received Silver Palmetto recognition
for its Florida-friendly landscape design from the Florida Yards and Neighborhoods program of the
Manatee County Extension Service. The program partners with local, state and national agencies to
promote Florida-friendly landscaping that uses low maintenance plants and environmentally
sustainable practices.
Designed by Wade Trim, the library’s landscape features a variety of native, drought
tolerant plants that conserve water use. A demonstration landscape sign will be placed on
the grounds to help educate residents about this environmentally-friendly design that also
compliments the library building’s green design practices.
