Randolph Joins as Traffic Engineering Manager

Dennis Randolph, PE, PTOE, AICP, joined our Grand Rapids office as Practice Manager of the Traffic Engineering Group. He will lead traffic engineering projects with an emphasis on traffic safety, transportation and community planning, and traffic and highway operations. Dennis has a 37-year career in traffic engineering that includes positions with several county road commissions and the City of Lansing. For the past 15 years he served as Managing Director and Director of Public Works for the Calhoun County Road Commission and Calhoun Community Development where he managed transportation, parks and public works functions.

Dennis has engaged in traffic engineering work at all levels, from conducting Federally-funded research to operating rural road systems. Projects he has managed include improvements to the Washington, DC, Beltway and many intersection and highway improvements in southern Michigan communities. He has also served as an expert witness in traffic, highway maintenance, and right-of-way cases. Dennis has had a long involvement in community development, working on regional and super-regional mall developments, and many commercial and industrial centers in Michigan and Northern Virginia.

As an active member of the academic community, Dennis serves as an Adjunct Faculty member for Western Michigan University’s College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and an Adjunct Instructor for Kellogg Community College’s Mathematics and Science Department. He has written or contributed to over 50 publications and is actively involved in the Transportation Research Board, Institute of Transportation Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers, and other professional organizations.

Dennis holds Master and Bachelor Degrees in Civil Engineering from Wayne State University as well as a Master Degree in Public Administration from Western Michigan University. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Michigan, Virginia and California, and a Certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer. He is also a Certified Planner and a Human Resources Certified Professional.
