The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) is working with the West Creek Preservation Committee, local communities, Ohio Department of Transportation, Ohio EPA, property owners, and other interested stakeholders to restore segments of West Creek as it enters into the Cuyahoga River south of Cleveland, Ohio.

The West Creek Valley is located in the south central section of Cuyahoga County. West Creek travels nine miles through the communities of Parma, Seven Hills, Brooklyn Heights, Independence, and a small area of the City of Cleveland and Broadview Heights, Ohio. West Creek is a tributary to the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie.

In 2004, NEORSD received approximately $3.5 million from the Ohio EPA’s Water Resource Restoration Sponsor Program to be directed at ten potential restoration projects. In conjunction with the West Creek Preservation Committee, NEORSD will evaluate the ten sites along West Creek and develop and implement stream restoration and habitat improvement projects within the allotted project budget. The project officially began in October 2005 and construction of the restoration projects is anticipated to begin in the Fall of 2006 and be completed by 2007.
