Operation, Maintenance & Management Projects

Milan Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment Plants
A need to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs led the City of Milan, MI, to contract the operation
and maintenance of their water and wastewater systems to Wade Trim. Increased efficiency in labor and
chemical and power consumption, as well as implementation of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
to reduce equipment downtime and corrective repair expenses have generated significant savings since 2007.
An asset management program was implemented for their systems to better manage capital assets. We also
completed a water and sewer rate study to address the need to increase revenue and better manage the flow
of funds between the general fund and the water and sewer fund. |

two Type I production wells, an iron removal plant, distribution mains and a 500,000-gallon elevated storage tank.
The Township plans to add another 500,000-gallon ground storage tank to provide redundant water storage and serve
growth south of the current service district.

Village of Kingsley
Built in 2005, the Village of Kingsley’s wastewater treatment plant features
Aero-Mod® modification of the activated
sludge process. The wastewater is high in ammonia and low in BOD. The process sequences between aerobic and anoxic phases, which promotes complete
denitrification of the wastewater. Wade Trim has been the operator of the plant since it went on-stream, and
has achieved near-perfect compliance, even when winter wastewater temperatures fall below 50 degrees F.
