The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is enhancing the capacity, reliability, and safety of its Beck Branch, Prairie Creek, and Renner Road Lift Stations in the City of Richardson. Wade Trim is leading design for the process, HVAC, electrical, instrumentation and control, and associated site civil and structural engineering improvements. Outdated equipment will be replaced, and capacity will be increased to prevent sanitary sewer overflows. Safety measures, such as improved ventilation and gas level alarms, will also be implemented.
At the Beck Branch Lift Station, a condition assessment identified the need to replace two pumps due to their age and capacity limitations. Two, new 125-hp pumps will be installed to increase the station’s capacity to 9.6 million gallons per day. To maintain service during system outages, we have integrated permanent bypass capabilities at both the Beck Branch and Renner Road Lift Stations. At the Prairie Creek and Renner Road Lift Stations, the electrical rooms will be isolated to improve drywell access and HVAC systems will be added to more efficiently lower facility temperatures. To isolate the electrical room from the rest of the facility, Wade Trim designed exterior stairwells alongside Renner Road’s building, providing operators direct access to the drywells while minimizing electrical room congestion.
The project schedule was prepared to minimize downtime and any bypass pumping at each lift station during repairs and upgrades, further saving costs for NTMWD. Our commitment to clear communication and collaboration with NTMWD staff makes sure that project milestones are met, budgets are maintained, and operational challenges are addressed promptly. Construction of the improvements is anticipated to begin in Summer 2025.
