Growing Our Profession

Wade Trim is invested in growing our industry’s professional capacity. Closing technical capability gaps by mentoring and partnering with small businesses is a focus, as well as engaging with students across all levels of education to nurture their interest in our profession.

MENTORING SMALL BUSINESSES

Working with and mentoring small businesses on projects is part of our history and our future. We are committed to increasing their opportunities to take on greater project responsibilities and strengthen technical skill bases. Working with these businesses enhances our industry and bolsters economic growth in the metropolitan areas we serve. Participating in conferences and events that support professional development, networking opportunities, and collaborative partnerships for these businesses builds relationships and opportunities to work together.

SUPPORTING HIGHER EDUCATION

Expanding access to higher education helps cultivate a robust workforce within our industry. We provide an endowed scholarship at the University of Michigan College of Engineering in honor of our former CEO, President, and University of Michigan alumnus, Frank Tymowski. Through the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Research Institute, we provide the Wade Trim Engineering Scholarship to promote the profession and provide financial support to students pursuing careers in civil or environmental engineering. Our robust internship program provides college students with hands-on training and experience that exposes them to multiple disciplines within our firm. In return, our staff members build mentoring skills and gain fresh and valued perspectives.

REACHING OUT TO YOUTH

Engaging young minds helps foster interest in our profession as a future career choice. We partner with local schools by participating in School-to-Work programs and Career Days, supporting STEM education, and mentoring students for local, state, and national competitions such as Future City, Mathcounts, and Trig-Star. Our staff also volunteers for educational programs like water festivals, Construction Science Expo, the Great American Teach-In, and numerous local community events.
