The Southeastern Michigan Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE-MI) has designated Robert Breen, PE, as its 2019 Franklin D. Meyers Outstanding Civil Engineer of the Year. He was chosen for his dedication to the civil engineering profession and service to ASCE and other organizations throughout his career. The Southeastern Branch honored Bob on May 11 at its Annual Meeting in Grosse Pointe Woods.

As our Bridge Discipline Lead, Bob has 43 years of experience in bridge design, inspection, scoping, and construction assistance. He has managed more than 65 bridge reconstruction and rehabilitation projects and conducted more than 200 bridge inspections at the state and local levels.

Bob is a Qualified Team Leader for Bridge Safety Inspections through the Federal Highway Administration and National Highway Institute. Conferences he has presented at include the Prestressed Concrete Institute Convention, the Michigan Bridge Conference, Michigan Infrastructure Conference, and Ohio Transportation Engineering Conference. He is also a life member of ASCE and a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Michigan who has served on various technical committees and as a judge for ASCE-led competitions.
