More than 100,000 LF of asphalt streets have been reconstructed in the City of Keller, TX, since partnering with Wade Trim on the City’s Annual Street Maintenance Program in 2018. The area’s heavy clay soils, which expand and contract with seasonal moisture, have made full street reconstruction a necessity for many neighborhoods. For each year’s program, Wade Trim prepares design plans, specifications, and cost estimates, and assists the City through bidding and construction.

To help the City stay within its annual budget and meet scheduling goals, Wade Trim collaborates closely with City staff to develop flexible construction plans. By identifying street repairs that can be postponed, we help the City prioritize roads most in need of attention. Our team also provides detailed Opinions of Probable Construction Costs and explores alternative bid items and cost-saving options.

In recent years, the City has replaced water service lines, mains, valves, and fire hydrants during street reconstruction. Using the City’s GIS system, we locate and mark underground infrastructure in the field, streamlining the process for efficient utility replacement.

A hands-on approach to data collection in the field has helped Wade Trim identify solutions to street and curb-line ponding issues, and determine where additional repairs are needed. Since 2021, we have engaged a subconsultant to perform geotechnical bores, providing data that informs subgrade treatment and pavement thickness. These findings have supported a shift from the City’s typical asphalt detail to a more robust asphalt section to increase strength.
